The frequency of men visiting a doctor is very rare compared to women. In fact, they prefer clinic visits only when facing serious illness or when nagged by a loved one. The majority of 500 men surveyed reported that they don't talk about their health. And Indian men are no exception!
Typically, men schedule appointments when they feel something is wrong. They would go to a doctor if they needed something checked out specifically. A proper preventive care program can be effective over time - preventing potentially life-threatening events.
Regular checkups are not only meant for women. Men over 40 should take regular checkups at least every other year.
Additionally to seeing a doctor on a regular basis, men should pay attention to other aspects of a healthy lifestyle. Even if you feel stigmatized, schedule a check-up, especially if you have not had one in the past couple years.
